Haight Custom T-shirt Quilt #1

We have some family members in need of some T-Shirt quilts! The kids have long graduated, but man, it is so difficult to discard/donate their shirts! And you don't need to! Those are precious memories so no matter how long they have been out of school, it is still a wonderful opportunity to save those special shirts for them and make them into a lasting memory. This quilt was really fun to make creating the shadow around each shirt! Again, we had a variety of sizes to work with so we constructed 4 columns using shirts cut down to 12" x 12" blocks. The middle column worked out at 14" wide with the height of blocks ranging from 9" to 28". School colors were gold, white and black so we worked those in and chose a dark grey to make the tshirts standout. Malachite is a great digital design for T-Shirt quilts, it offers movement without taking away from the shirts especially when you have a variety of styles. Espresso Shadowplay flannel from Maywood Studios is a staple here and worked out really well on the back of this one as it was just a bit too big for cuddle backing and would have probably added another 10 pounds to the weight of the quilt lolol.
